Pedicure Tips: Keep Feet Soft Between Pedicures
Pumice Stone and MoisturizerA pumice stone is used to slough away dead skin during pedicures. But using a pumice stone during your daily bath or shower is the one of the best "between" pedicure tips to keep the dead skin on your feet under control. After you pumice your feet in the shower, dry them, and apply a heavy moisturizer, concentrating on the areas where calluses and dead skin thrive. Ò
Specialty moisturizers that are formulated to penetrate the thick rough skin on your feet can be purchased at discount, and drug stores. Remember, a pumice stone is very abrasive, so donò€™t scrub those feet too hard.
Vaseline and Socks
Vaseline is an inexpensive way to treat dry skin on various areas of the body, including the feet. To prevent the buildup of calluses and dead skin between pedicures, apply a generous amount of Vaseline on your feet, and put on a pair of socks prior to bedtime.
The socks will give the Vaseline plenty of time to absorb in the skin, and soften the feet. The socks will also keep the Vaseline from making a mess. For the best results, this process should be repeated at least twice a week.
Olive Oil and a Warm Towel
If you donò€™t have all night to let Vaseline sit on your feet, applying a bit of olive oil to your feet, and wrapping them in a hot towel (not too hot) twice a week for ten minutes can keep them soft and supple until your next pedicure. Use a clean dry towel to wipe the excess olive oil off of your feet when youò€™re done.
Olive oil can be a bit messy, so place an old towel under your feet before you start the application process.
With "between" pedicure tips such as using a pumice stone in the shower, applying specialty moisturizers, slathering on Vaseline before bedtime, and using olive oil and a warm towel on your feet twice a week, you can keep your feet soft and sandal-ready at all times.
